Vitamin B5 (Cytoplan)

Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5) (4016)

Food State Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5)
60 vegetarian tablets

With Probiotic & Yeast-Free

Food State Pantothenic Acid is beneficially combined in a probiotic base in which it naturally occurs. The probiotic species used (lactobacillus bulgaricus) is a native inhabitant of the human GI tract.

Pantothenic acid is water-soluble. It occurs in all living cells. It stimulates the adrenal glands and increases production of cortisone and other adrenal hormones important for healthy skin and nerves. The vitamin plays a vital role in cell metabolism. As a co-enzyme, like the first three B vitamins, pantothenic acid participates in the release of energy from carbohydrates, fats and proteins. It is essential for the synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and fatty acids and aids in the utilisation of other vitamins, especially riboflavin. It helps maintain a healthy digestive tract and can improve the body’s ability to withstand stressful conditions.

Best Natural Sources

Occurs in all living cells, being widely distributed in yeasts, moulds, bacteria and individual cells of all animals and plants. It is synthesised in the body by the bacterial flora of the intestines. Organ meats, brewers yeast, egg yolks and whole grain cereal are the richest sources.

Absorption and Storage

Pantothenic acid is found in the blood, particularly in the plasma, and is excreted daily in the urine. Approximately 33% of the pantothenic acid content of meat is lost during cooking and about 50% is lost by the milling of flour. Although stable in moist heat, it is easily destroyed by heating in acids such as vinegar or alkali such as baking soda. Individual needs for pantothenic acid vary according to periods of stress, daily food intake and urinary excretion levels. A greater level of pantothenic acid may be needed after injury, severe illness or antibiotic therapy. Adequate intake of pantothenic acid may help to reduce the adverse effects of many antibiotics.
